Honesty & Impartiality

The Razer Iskur X is one of Razer’s first gamer chairs, it’s also the little sister of the Razer Iskur and the cousin of the Enki, Enki X and Enki Pro.

So, to put it simply, the Iskur X is the entry-level model of the Razer Iskur.

Compared to the Iskur, you’ll get 2D armrests instead of 4D, no memory foam headrests, but you’ll save a lot of money.

However, I find the value for money of this model not at all crazy, 2D armrests, a centered rocker and a non-adjustable lumbar support, at this price?!

I’d therefore advise you to head for my Razer comparison section, which will help you find a more suitable Razer gaming chair (the Enki, for example).

As for the rest, as I’m sure you already know, Razer maintains its “distinction” and prestige by offering well-made, quality products.

This is also what can make all the difference, since they demonstrate real know-how and extreme attention to detail in their products.

So, as you can see, there are a lot of questions to ask, and I’m going to enlighten you as much as I can in the course of this review, so let’s get on with it!

Before we start, what type of gamer is the Iskur X for?

Razer
Razer Iskur X
razer iskur x 1.jpg

It’s Razer, so I imagine you’d expect to pay a certain price, the price of well-made, quality products.

So already, the Iskur X could be of interest to you if finish/look details are important to you.

However, when it comes to features and settings, you can get a lot better at this price, especially with Quersus gaming chairs.

The price is similar, but you’ll get far more settings, so that’s my advice.

Nevertheless, if you’re still interested, I’d recommend it for gamers who spend 2 to 5 hours a day playing/working sitting down.

And finally, the Razer Iskur X is recommended for gamers ranging from 1m70 to 1m90 and weighing less than 136kg, although there is an XL version for those of you who are taller/costumed.

Good points:

Negative points:

And in concrete terms, what is the Razer Iskur X worth?

La mousse est de haute densitΓ© ET modelΓ©e

This is one of the most important criteria when choosing a gaming chair.

It’s absolutely essential that the foam is high-density, as this is what will give you a durable seat and backrest.

If you’re wondering why, it’s simple!

High-density foam recovers its shape more easily than low-density foam, and ESPECIALLY, it has no tendency to remain crushed even after months of use.

So it’s great for your comfort, but can you imagine sitting on completely shrivelled foam after 4-5 months of use?

I imagine not, because it wouldn’t be pleasant at all to feel the steel bars of the chair under your buttocks.

That’s why you need to choose a chair with high-density foam.

Next, the little Razer bonus is that their foams are shaped.

For you, this means extra comfort, because the foam has been shaped to accommodate a human body and isn’t just a lambda block of foam.

This adds a real touch of comfort, as the foam (although not memory foam) will mold itself around your shape.

Side cheeks for a secure hold

The side cheeks, compared to a Razer Enki, were a little less well thought out (I think).

(When I say side cheeks, I’m referring to the lateral reinforcements on each side of the chair, i.e. at shoulder level for the backrest and the “pieces” that stick out at seat level).

However, they’re clearly very effective and will delight gamers who, unlike the Enki, need a little more “support”.

So it all depends on your profile.

I can give you a few advantages of being maintained:

  • Personally, I find that it forces me to sit properly, as I tend to move around too much when I’m sitting and end up in crazy positions.
  • It also makes me feel better “sitting”.

After all, it’s my personal opinion, so it must depend on people, but at least you’ve got some examples!

The tilting mechanism is unfortunately centered

I’m a bit disappointed, because let’s just say that at this price it’s rather “borderline” to have only a centered rocking mechanism.

I tend to say nothing about lower-priced chairs, because you can’t have everything and it’s normal, but this is borderline.

If you’d like to know more, I generally recommend at least one off-center tilt mechanism for a chair of about this price.

And why is that?

Because with a centered rocker mechanism, the rocking action takes place in the center of the chair, not at knee level.

As a result, your hips will be pulled more, your lower body will be subjected to a little more strain, and your feet won’t touch the floor during the rocking motion.

In short, it’s far less ergonomic.

On the positive side, however, a tilting mechanism, even if off-center, allows your body to move a minimum.

So your weight isn’t constantly supported by the same muscles all day long!

As a result, you’ll be able to sit for longer than you would on a conventional “fixed” chair.

The gas piston is class 4

Fortunately, the gas piston is class 4, which is the best you’re going to get.

Translated into more everyday language, this means that the power to raise your chair is good.

So you won’t end up with a chair that struggles to rise when you’re trying to adjust it.

It also means that the piston is particularly strong and durable, and although it doesn’t cost much, it’s a pain to change.

So it’s in your interest to make sure it’s solid.

The Iskur X foot is made of powdered metal and the skeleton of steel

As far as chair legs are concerned, there are better ones, such as aluminum, which can withstand much higher pressure.

However, in this price range, it’s not strange to find a powder-coated metal base – in fact, it’s very good.

It already withstands a pressure of several hundred kg, so it’s more than enough in terms of strength and resistance.

Then, as for the chair’s skeleton (the structure of the backrest and seat), it’s all made of steel.

This is also a common material for the structure of a gaming chair, and it’s particularly good because it’s light and strong.

So the chair is easy to transport and move around, while still being very sturdy (the minimum when you’re investing so much money).

Iskur X armrests are adjustable in 2D only

In that respect, I’m a little disappointed.

It’s a shame that the armrests are only 2D adjustable.

Let’s say that’s the main thing, but for only a little more, you can get 4D ones from other brands, like the one I mentioned in the introduction to this article…

Nevertheless, on a more positive note, 2D armrests allow you to :

  • Orient the armrests from top to bottom, which is ideal for adjusting them to your body shape and posture (it also helps to take the strain off your upper body).
  • Orient the armrests at different angles, which is great for adjusting them to suit the orientation of your arms. For example, when a console gamer holds the controller, his arms are oriented inwards, so straight armrests would be useless.

So don’t get me wrong, 2D armrests are still useful and welcome, it’s just that the quality/price ratio isn’t great!

Where Razer reigns supreme is in design

The design of Razer gaming chairs is really something.

They don’t make chairs in 500 different colors, but stick to colors and contrasts they know well.

That is, their trademark color green, and black.

And it all comes together really well, especially as everything is well thought-out and designed.

Even the backrest is colossal and superbly crafted, making you feel like you’re sitting in the seat of a futuristic racing car.

Finally, it’s hard to describe the overall look of a chair and what it inspires, but I think you’ll agree that, as a rule, Razer makes super-clean, well-crafted stuff.

It’s no wonder that some people get complete Razer setups, from chair to keyboard to mouse.

Covering: multi-layer synthetic leather

The coating used on the Razer Iskur X is very good.

Why is that?

Well, because it’s PVC leather (multi-layer in this case), which is very good, because it’s more resistant to wear and tear than PU leather (the kind used on the vast majority of gaming chairs).

So no matter how much you sit on it, rub it with jeans and the like, it won’t end up like some lambda gaming chair coverings.

That is… Completely shredded.

What’s more, PVC Leather is also more resistant to all types of liquids (which is great when you’re playing and eating at the same time).

Which, let’s face it, is the case for most of us…

No headrest and lumbar support integrated but not adjustable

Here again I’m a little disappointed, because it’s rare to find a gaming chair sold without at least a headrest, and here… There isn’t one.

Granted, ergonomically speaking, a headrest is optional, but it’s still a nice perk.

Especially as it helps to keep the back of your neck in a neutral position, and can therefore help you to adopt a better posture for your body.

So that’s a negative point.

Then, on the lumbar support side, it’s integrated, which is good.

It’s very important to reproduce the rounded shape of your lower back.

Yes, your back shouldn’t be straight, but it absolutely must have a little curve.

Without it, you’re heading for excruciating back pain.

So lumbar support is a very important element, and one you shouldn’t compromise on.

The problem with the Iskur X is that it’s fixed and not adjustable.

In short, either it’s just right for you, in which case all the better, or it’s too low, too high, too big, too small, and then you’re in trouble…

So I’m a bit disappointed by that too.

Razer's finishes are as usual very good

That’s the great thing about Razer!

As you’ll see, the seams are flawless and flawless.

They’re super regular, super clean, and super well worked.

But that’s not all!

Even when it comes to fitting the PVC Leather, it’s impeccable, not a single crease, not a single overhang (even under the chair).

And I’m not even talking about the overall symmetry of the chair, which is just perfect.

Generally speaking, I always have a bit of trouble screwing in the backrests of gaming chairs and making sure they’re straight (I’m quibbling, I know), but this one is just perfect!

Quality castors similar to other Razer chairs

I didn’t notice any difference on these wheels, they’re still 60mm, they roll well on most floors and are fluid.

Of course, there are even smoother wheels, but sometimes it can be annoying to have too much smoothness.

For example, if you’re forced to move away from your desk all the time because the chair has moved backwards, etc.

So if you need more fluid castors, I’d advise you to buy others.

Backrest tilts to a maximum of 139Β°

It gets better, because some gaming chairs can be tilted up to 180Β°.

I wouldn’t go so far as to say that this is compulsory and really desirable, it’s just a piece of information I’m dropping on you.

Very few people take naps on their chairs (which is more or less what a 180Β° tilt allows you to do).

On the other hand, 139Β° seems to me to be in the “right bracket”.

Multiple studies have shown that a 140Β° tilt is the best way to reduce pressure on the vertebrae and preserve the back.

So with the Iskur X, you can reach that degree of inclination!

What’s more, you’ll be able to find the right backrest angle for you.

So for me, it’s not a defect, it all depends on how you intend to use your chair.

Enki Pro settings

To raise/lower the armrests, you’ll see that there’s a “notch” on the outer side of each armrest. Simply press it to raise/lower your armrests.

To adjust their angle, simply move them by hand.

Then, on the underside of the chair, you’ll find a lever that allows you to raise/lower the chair and thus adjust its height.

If you pull or push this lever, you can lock/unlock the seat’s tilting mechanism.

However, if you’ve read me correctly, you know it’s important to have one, so I’d advise you not to block it.

Finally, the large wheel under the seat is used to adjust the tilt tension according to your weight.

Easy to assemble

You’ll also find that one of Razer’s strong points is how easy it is to assemble the Razer Iskur X.

As soon as you open the box, you’ll find very nice, clean and uncluttered assembly instructions.

Each assembly step is detailed, and it’s child’s play to put together!

I’ve attached a short video of the chair’s unboxing and assembly, so you can see for yourself.

The others were directly surprised on delivery.

Why was that?

Well, as I told you, Razer isn’t a brand that does things by halves; it’s a bit like the Apple of the gaming chair world.

So as soon as we received the package, most of us were surprised, because both the packaging and the contents had been superbly crafted.

The quality of the foam is also a recurring feature, for its firmness, which is particularly comfortable.

On the other hand, no one complained that the armrests were only 2D.

Perhaps I’ve quibbled too much?

As for the lack of headrests and adjustable lumbar support, I’ve noticed that most users just buy them separately.

Admittedly, this is also a solution to my criticisms.

Now you know everything.

Here are some other interesting gaming chairs

review razer iskur

The Razer Iskur! Because compared to the Iskur X, the integrated lumbar support is adjustable, there’s a memory foam headrest included, and the armrests are 4D adjustable.

The only drawback is that it’s slightly more expensive, but you’d be better off upgrading.

Read my review of the Iskur.

gaming chair razer enki

The Razer Enki, which is my favorite from Razer.

The price is slightly higher, but you’ll also get a memory foam headrest, an off-center tilt mechanism, which is great for the reasons I mentioned in the review, and 4D armrests!

If you have the extra budget, go for it with your eyes closed.

Read my review of the Enki.

gaming chair razer enki x

And finally, the Razer Enki X, which is the model just below my favorite.

However, the rocker is similar to that of the Iskur X, the armrests are also 2D, but the upholstery is better in my opinion (a mix of fabric and imitation) and the chair has been better thought out (normal since it’s more recent).

So it’s a very good alternative, since it’s the “competitor” of the Iskur X.

Where can I buy the Razer Iskur X?

Now that you’ve read through this review, you’ll have realized that the Iskur X is really aimed at Razer aficionados.

The Iskur X has a lot going for it, such as its top-quality finish, well-worked materials and remarkable build quality, but it lacks in terms of settings and functionality.

The comfort is there, but don’t you need more settings for your daily gaming sessions?

That’s a question only you can answer.
