The Quersus Vaos 501 is the big sister of the Quersus Evos (for the little ones), and the little sister of the Quersus Geos (for the big ones).
You probably asked yourself before reading this test: “Should I buy a Vaos 501, a 502, a 503, a 504 or a 505?
Stick around until the end, because I’ll be answering that question throughout the test.
The Vaos range from Quersus is perfect for gamers with average physiques, and promises to combine gaming with ergonomics.
The brand was created to meet the needs of gamers ranging from beginners to e-sport professionals.
They work in collaboration with some very famous gamers (like Gotaga, who is lucky enough to have a Quersus Gotaga edition).
Quersus’ own construction and designs are so special that they are patented and protected as such.
This test promises! The introduction is getting too long, don’t you think? Let’s get on with the test!
Sommaire
Are you a gamer looking for a comfortable chair?
One that will stand the test of time, and you prefer a well-thought-out tilting mechanism to a chair that reclines up to 180°?
You’re NOT a gamer who spends 1-1h30/d playing Minecraft?
Do you understand how important it is in the long term, both for your budget and your back, to buy a good gaming chair straight away, rather than buying one after another at €100?
Well, if all that’s good enough, you can read on – you’ll like the Quersus VAOS 501 (in fact, if you answered yes to these questions, you’ll like it already).
Secondly, the Quersus V501 is best suited to people between 1.70 and 1.85 m tall and weighing no more than 120 kg.
Finally, if you’re still not convinced, take a look at my ranking of the best quersus gamer chairs.
The Vaos 501 isn’t one of them, so I’ve opted for its sister, the V505, which has a hydrophobic fabric, instead!

I couldn’t find the exact density of the foam (maybe I didn’t look hard enough?).
What I can tell you, however, is that it’s pretty damn thick, so there’s no doubt that it’s top-of-the-range foam.
But in practical terms, you’re probably thinking, “Okay, that’s great, it’s just got to be more comfortable then?”
No no, it also influences the durability of the chair, a good foam will ensure that your chair can last for YEARS without the foam ending up sagging and hurting your bum every time you sit on it.
As for firmness, it’s very firm, which is excellent for preventing back pain (contrary to the widespread belief that soft = good).
Finally, it’s cold foam, a type of foam that’s even more durable, but above all more breathable and moisture-absorbent.
This is often the reason why I love gaming chairs.
On a normal office chair, there’s no support, too much “freedom”.
Which frankly, once you’re sitting down, it’s very annoying (not for the first 10 minutes), but over the long term.
Without lateral cheeks, I soon end up slipping, sitting any which way on the chair, and above all I feel badly seated and never in the right position.
Frankly, it helps a lot. Imagine fitting into a mold that fits your body properly.
You’ll get the feel of a well-designed gaming chair.
It’s a must-have on high-end chairs like these: the synchronous mechanism.
Unlike a centered mechanism (95% of gaming chairs on the market), you’ll be able to sit in the chair for longer.
It’s more respectful of your body, because a centered rocker brings problems that a synchronous rocker doesn’t (for example, cutting off circulation to the legs).
Plus, what I love about the Quersus Vaos 501 is that the way it works is unique.
What’s more, unlike virtually all other chairs, you can lock the chair at any angle you like.
In other words, you can tilt backwards, and lock the seat in the position it’s in.
And that’s a super-rare function, but very useful for relieving pressure on the back and working backwards a bit.
I can see that this has been well thought out, because even this looks very futuristic.
I’ll let you see for yourself in the photo! (It’s hard to describe the beauty of a rocking system…)
The gas cylinder is the piston.
Why get a class 4?
They’re the strongest, most resistant and also have the best spring force.
So as well as lasting over time, you won’t have to struggle to raise your chair at a rate of 1mm per second, as has happened to me with some chairs.
When it comes to the frame (or chassis), metal is the most solid material for this type of piece.
It’s both much lighter than some other metal-and-wood combinations (and therefore easier to move), and more resistant.
When it comes to the foot cross, metal (reinforced and therefore even more resistant) is far ahead of nylon foot crosses, which can easily break.
In fact, a pressure of around 200kg can be enough to break them.
Metal, on the other hand, is much stronger, and aluminum could have been used (even stronger), but I don’t think that’s appropriate, given the chair’s maximum weight of 120kg.
We might as well use the budget for something other than aluminum, which won’t be useful given the recommended size (M-XL).
4D armrests are the ultimate in ergonomics.
They are fully adaptable to your body:
As for solidity, as you can see from the photo, the armrest structure is made of metal.
Comfort-wise, I like the firmness of the top, but it doesn’t hurt, as there’s clearly a well-measured foam padding.
What strikes you first when you see the Quersus V501?
Its futuristic design, of course!
Frankly, design can be a very subjective thing, but the Vaos is objectively futuristic, you can’t argue with that.
It’s even been patented.
I even think it has a “cockpit” or “shield” feel to it – you’ll feel protected by the chair, imagine you’re a phone, and the chair is your hull.
What’s more, when it comes to choosing the color, you’re probably wondering “What color should I choose?”
Well, there’s something for everyone: red, gray, blue and…
For those wondering, in my photos it’s the Quersus Vaos V501/XW in black and white!
It’s very easy to adapt to its environment, as it’s both sober and very pretty, going perfectly with my white keyboard, black mouse and black/white desk.
All in all, it’s one of the best bucket seats I’ve ever had.
If you’re looking for a brighter color, go for the red one.
If you want other designs, there’s the V502, the V503, the V504 and the V505, all with different designs.
But that’s not the only difference! (Others will be revealed as the test progresses).
The main advantage of fabric is that it’s highly breathable, so there’s no risk of perspiration in summer and sticking to the seat.
It’s also much more durable, since unlike imitation leather, it can’t crack, and wears out much more slowly.
So fabric is the way to go, in my opinion.
The advantage of imitation and PU leather is that it gives a “premium” feel, and in that respect I think it was very clever to finish the V501 with PU leather!
However, if you want a chair entirely in imitation leather, you have the VAOS 502, 503 and 504.
The only advantage for me compared to fabric is that if you stain it, a wipe and it goes right away.
I still much prefer fabric, which is also super-soft to the touch, more comfortable and less likely to slide off the chair.
On the other hand, if you want a hydrophobic fabric, go for the Quersus V505.
If there’s one thing that characterizes high-end gaming chairs, it’s the integrated lumbar cushion.
Using a small knob, you can directly adjust its size.
This is much more practical than removable cushions (which are sometimes too big or not suitable for all body types).
What’s more, they can move, so you often have to put them back in place, etc.
So that’s a big plus.
The other great advantage of the Quersus Vaos 501 is that its headrest is “vat-shaped”, i.e. the sides stick out more.
So you’ll feel even better supported on the headrest.
This is the first model like this that I’ve tested, and I have to say that it’s pleasant and relaxing, a bit like a recliner.
The only improvement that could have been made would have been a memory cushion.
But I imagine the price would have been well over €70 more.
So it’s best to leave the choice to you to buy one separately.
Finally, for a small extra charge, Quersus allows you to have an inscription embroidered on the cushion.
For those who like to personalize their objects, you’re in for a treat.
In the photo you can see my logo embroidered on it!
I just love it.
Look at that IMPECCABLE back.
Not a single crease, not a single overhang, nothing.
Also, the chair’s covers don’t look cheap; in fact, they add an extra touch of style to the whole.
As for the seams, they enhance the chair’s design to give it an unstoppable style, while being perfectly neat.
They’re not too tight, not too loose and very even.
So even in terms of durability and resistance, the seams are good.
They’re polyurethane-coated, so they won’t scratch your floors.
They roll very well on all types of floor (although on linoleum they sometimes have a little trouble, but that’s common).
You can always change them and go on roller skates if you feel like it, but I don’t think that’s your main concern.
I was a little hesitant about the number of stars.
In itself, the backrest can’t really be reclined, but it’s a totally assumed choice and it’s also what makes this chair so great.
Have you ever seen a Herman miller with a 180° reclining backrest?
Not really, because that’s not what a chair is for.
Instead, you’ve got a really good tilting mechanism that can tilt up to 140° and that you can lock at any moment of the tilt.
This is the “tilt” mechanism.
I find it much more ergonomic and pleasant for everyday use.
The mechanism follows your movements very well and I felt a real difference, similar to one of the ergonomic office chairs I own.
Under the seat, you’ll find a knob for adjusting the tension of the rocking mechanism (basically, adjusting the rocking mechanism according to your weight).
For the armrests, there’s a knob for each setting.
Which is great, as it prevents them from going out of adjustment because you’ve made too sudden a movement (which happens more often than you’d think).
The outer knob raises and lowers the armrests.
The inner knob adjusts the width of the armrests, while the knob at the end of the inner side adjusts them forwards, backwards and at an angle.
On the side of the seat, there’s a lever for raising and lowering the chair, and another for locking/unlocking the rocker.
The manual is well detailed, with photos of each step and clear instructions, as you can see, making assembly very simple.
The tools come with the chair and are very well packaged. So there’s no need for special tools.
The package arrived very well protected and there was even a piece of PU leather to protect the parts inside the package.
What’s more, the backrest is SUPER easy to assemble, as it simply fits into the piece that comes out of the seat.
I’ve never had a backrest so easy to assemble.
Here’s a small compilation of other customer reviews I’ve found on the internet:
Overall, the results are very good and this is a very good chair, well placed for its price.
Its main drawback will be its much higher price than the Vaos 501.
But to sum up (without going into details) it will have 4D armrests, cold foam, orientation up to 165°, the lumbar cushion is also included and as a bonus the headrest is magnetized and has memory foam.
It’s up to you to decide whether it’s worth the extra cost.
Read my review of the Secretlab Titan Evo 2022.
This is a good competitor to the Quersus 501.
It has similar features:
High-density foam, 4D armrests a good rocking mechanism (but not as good), recline up to 160°, integrated lumbar cushion.
The upholstery is nice, as it’s made of suede.
Nevertheless, it’s more expensive and you’ll lose the benefit of the Vaos 501’s rocking mechanism.

I’d also recommend reading my ranking of the best gamer chairs (made before this test).

Its price may put some people off, but how much time do you spend sitting in your chair?
More than 5 hours a day?
That’s almost as much time as you spend sleeping.
Would you buy a bad mattress?
No ?
The same goes for a gaming chair.
And what’s particularly nice about the Vaos 501 is that it does something unique.
It’s aimed at gamers who want a gamer chair, while retaining the benefits of an ergonomic chair.
Its synchronous tilt mechanism and tilt operation are really top-notch, and for me, a great asset.
