If, like me, your body heat reaches levels higher than that of your graphics card in the middle of a game…

You’re going to love the mesh coating on the K-Seat Oxygen (for which they really haven’t stolen the name!).

This little mesh coating is clearly a game changer.

Say goodbye to a back glued to imitation leather, and hello to mesh that’s even more breathable than “normal” fabric!

But that’s not its only advantage, and the mesh coating still has plenty of surprises in store for you (I’ll tell you more at the end of this review).

The goal of The G-Lab brand is to create increasingly high-quality and comfortable items for gamers (whether beginners or semi-professionals).

In this respect, they already sponsor several LANs and events, enabling them to receive daily feedback on their products.

And it shows.

So now let’s find out even more about the K-Seat Oxygen!

Who's the K-seat Oxygen for?

The G-Lab
K-Seat Oxygen
review k seat oxygen

The K-Seat Oxygen is for you if you’re on a “moderate” budget and one of your main concerns is perspiration.

Or even without going as far as perspiration, if heat is a problem, the K-Seat Oxygen will also be a good solution for you.

So rest assured, if your current chair keeps you super hot, it’s not your fault…

And I feel for you, especially as it’s almost as if everything in a gaming set-up is designed to kill you with heat….

The heat of the room, the heat of the gaming PC, the heat of the headphones on your ears (the most horrible)…

And what’s more, if you have a gaming chair made of imitation leather (which is not a breathable material)…

What else could you expect?

In these cases, you really should take advantage of a mesh gaming chair (and even more so if you live in the South).

But that’s not the only benefit.

If you also tend to have back problems, especially in the “middle” and “top” of your back…

This material is perfect.

Thanks to its elasticity, it will mold itself perfectly to your morphology, ensuring much greater comfort than a more “rigid” material (99% of other chairs)!

However, I wouldn’t recommend it to everyone: if you don’t play much (30mn – 1h), I think you’re better off choosing a cheap gaming chair.

On the other hand, if you play for 3-5 hours a day, you’ll get your money’s worth, and if you want other alternatives, they’re at the end of the article, as usual.

Then, as for recommended sizes, there are two options:

  • Take the XL if you’re over 1m80.
  • Take the S if you’re under 1m80.

For maximum weight, the K-Seat Oxygen S supports up to 120 kg, and the same goes for the K-Seat Oxygen XL.

A dense, thick molded foam

foam g lab k seat oxygen xl

To get straight to the heart of the matter, I’ve taken a photo to give you a better idea of the thickness of the foam on the seat.

As you can see, it’s quite thick, a sign of quality and durability.

However, that’s not the only thing to look for: to be “good”, the foam must also be of high density.

High density is what makes foam more durable, because it will always return to its original shape.

So if you have high-density foam, you have a chair that will last a long time in terms of seating comfort.

This is the case here: the foam is high-density and always returns to its original shape, even after a good 5 hours of sitting on it and several days of use.

The only drawback is that I couldn’t find any information on the exact density, so I can’t tell you at the moment.

In terms of feel, the foam is rather “soft”, well to be exact I’d say 70% soft and 30% firm (if that helps you imagine it).

So for those of you who don’t like very firm seats and prefer a soft one, this is for you.

On the other hand, if you tend to sit with one foot on the floor, and one foot under your buttocks (yes, I can see you, I’m guilty of this sometimes too), it won’t be great, because…

It’s going to put too much pressure on too specific a spot, and as the foam is rather soft, you’re going to feel the metal bar under the seat.

Anyway, after all, it’s not a recommended position either, so I can’t say I blame them, but I felt I should let you know.

If you’re going to sit like that all the time, you’d better get a firm seat.

Because sitting like that + liking soft seats is unfortunately not compatible!

Side reinforcements provide extra support

reinforced sides k seat oxygen s

I’ve reviewed a lot of chairs, and when it comes to the lateral reinforcements (the little edges of the chair that tuck inwards), I have to say that the support is really enormous.

Although the chair doesn’t have a cockpit feel, the support is really there.

Personally, I tend to like it, because as I’ve always said, it forces me to sit properly.

With less or no support, I tend too quickly to sit in a way that’s anything but ergonomic.

I really do have a problem with moving around too much when I’m sitting, and this helps me to contain myself.

So that’s something I’m focusing on on my side.

If your shoulders are too broad, because you’ve been working out too much, or your collarbones are long, I think it can bother you by “pushing” them a little too far forward, so be careful!

On the other hand, if you’re slim, it’ll be heaven for you.

The tilting mechanism is "centered

centred tilting mecanism

So, the tilting mechanism is one of the most important elements when you spend time on the computer or play.

Don’t be like my buddies who block it, thinking that having an ultra-fixed, ultra-stiff chair at 90° all the time is going to help them play better.

The only thing it’s going to do is help you destroy your back.

So don’t block the tilting mechanism, and even on the contrary, adjust it according to your weight.

See the big knob on the left of the photo?

That’s what it’s for, so turn it until it’s set correctly.

The aim is for the chair to follow your movements (when you lean back or stand up) and give you support.

So you have to find the right balance by turning the knob.

I know, it’s a bit of a fuzzy explanation, but that’s because it’s mostly a matter of feeling, and so you’ll feel it when you’ve found the right tension.

And in any case, with a few turns of the knob, you can adjust the tension again.

Finally, don’t neglect the rocker mechanism, because it allows your body to vary the pressure points, and not always subject the same muscles to the same tension.

And it also gets you moving a little.

In short, it’s good for you if you want to play for several hours without suffering, and good for your body, which will thank you later.

Now, if we turn to the more “technical” side of the tilting mechanism, here it’s a centered tilting mechanism.

For the price shown, it’s perfectly normal not to have a toggle mechanism that would, for example, be off-center (better than centered).

If you want an off-center one (basically, the rocker will be at knee level, so you’ll always be touching the ground when rocking, which improves blood circulation and prevents the “heavy legs” effect, among other things), you’ll easily have to add 100€.

There are a few chairs like this at DXRacer, for example, but not all, and those that do will break your budget, and unless you spend 8 hours or more on your chair, it’s not necessarily a worthwhile investment.

So that’s why I’m leaving the 5 stars, it’s consistent with the price.

The cylinder is class 4 in 80mm.

class 4 cylinder

The gas cylinder is what holds the gas and allows the chair to rise and fall.

It’s very important to have a quality gas spring, because if you don’t, your chair will start to struggle to rise.

Perhaps you’ve already had that cheap 20-50€ chair that would jerk up after a few weeks?

Well, that’s the consequence of a low-quality jack.

In our case, the K-Seat Oxygen has a class 4 gas spring (there’s no better).

So you’re on top in terms of durability, chair-climbing power and strength.

Next, it’s an 80 mm jack, which means it can extend 8 cm.

This is about average for the gaming chair sector; I regularly find 80 mm and sometimes 100 mm.

Metal frame, nylon foot crosses

nylon base

The entire structure of the chair (or skeleton) is made of metal.

This is the material of which 90% of gaming chairs are made, and with good reason: it’s a particularly efficient material.

As well as being strong, resistant and durable, it’s also fairly light and therefore easy to transport.

That’s why it’s the material of choice.

However, the reason I took out the stars is that the foot cross is made of nylon, even though it can withstand a pressure of a few hundred kilos…

Which means you won’t have any durability problems; I sometimes see metal foot crosses at similar prices, which are more qualitative and solid.

And while I’m at it, I must reassure you about something that surprised me.

On delivery, the foot cross had to be assembled, i.e. I had to screw each of the 5 branches on.

I wondered about the durability of such an assembly…

And finally, it’s okay, I deliberately abused the chair legs, because I’d rather break mine than you break yours.

And even though I purposely played with the chair tilted backwards, i.e. my feet (mine) on my desk and only two of the chair’s feet on the floor and the other 3 in the air…

Well, it largely survived and nothing happened to it.

Armrests are adjustable in only two dimensions

armrest oxygen

Here I was a little disappointed because the description shows 3D armrests, i.e. adjustable up and down, in orientation and front to back.

In reality, however, the armrests are only adjustable in two dimensions.

Not a bad thing considering the price, but it was surprising.

The front-to-back adjustment of 3D armrests is inherently less than the width adjustment permitted by 4D armrests.

But 4D armrests are only available on chairs that cost a lot more than this one.

So 2D armrests are okay.

However, 3D is sometimes available at this price, but 2D is still okay, given that it’s also covered in mesh.

So there you have it.

Getting back to the benefits, what use are 2D armrests to you?

First of all, you’ll be able to adjust their height, which is PRIMORITY if you want to be seated ergonomically.

Because you MUST adjust the armrests so that your elbows rest on them at a 90° angle.

And ideally, your armrests should also be at the same height as your desk.

Would you like some role-playing?

Here are a few:

If your desk is adjustable, that’s great: simply adjust the chair until your feet touch the floor and your legs form a 90° angle, then…

Do the same for the armrests.

Then all you have to do is adjust the desk to the height of your armrests.

If your desk isn’t adjustable, don’t worry – there’s a simple solution for ergonomic posture here too.

First, you’ll need to adjust the armrests so that your elbows form a 90° angle when resting on them.

Next, you’ll need to adjust the height of the chair so that the armrests are at the same height as your desk.

If you’re still touching the floor, great!

If you no longer touch the floor after doing this, your desk is too high for your height, but you can compensate by adding a footrest.

Secondly, adjusting the orientation of the armrests will enable you to do another very useful thing.

That is, you can adjust the armrests to suit the way you use them.

Would you like a clearer example?

Take a break from the article and start a session of your favorite game (who said Dota 2?).

And now, observe the position of your arms.

I’m willing to bet that if you’re right-handed, you hold your mouse not with your arm straight out, but with your arm pointing to the left.

And likewise for your keyboard, I bet your arm is inclined to the right.

Well, thanks to 2D armrests, you’ll be able to tilt your armrests in the same direction as your arms, which would have been impossible with 1D armrests.

Attractive racing design with a touch of originality thanks to the mesh covering

k seat oxygen design

The design is sympathetic, and in line with what we usually find on gaming chairs.

In other words, a racing design, borrowed from the seats found in luxury cars.

But that’s not all: most of the design details have also been well taken care of.

The G-Lab logo is embroidered on the top of the front backrest, and the brand name is also embroidered on the rear!

This is the kind of nice personalization that shows attention has been paid to the chair’s overall design.

The cushions are also equipped with these!

The neck cushion is embroidered with the brand name.

The one for the lumbar region has been given a lot of thought, and they didn’t just put the brand name or logo on it.

Well done, by the way, because it’s the first time I’ve seen that.

There are several embroideries in the form of a nod to the name of the chair (Oxygen, because it’s made of mesh and therefore very breathable) and so you’ll find the periodic table of oxygen which contains:

  • The O and Oxygen, which refers to oxygen and therefore also to the name of the chair, with just below 15.999 which is the atomic mass of oxygen.
  • The 8 is oxygen’s atomic number.
  • And its electronic configuration: 2sp^2 2sp^4.

So much for the curious among you!

In any case, it’s great to have a link between the name of the chair, the material used and the embroidery on the cushion!

Hybrid coating with mesh and high-quality fabric

mesh

The mesh covering is really the big plus of this gaming chair.

It’s really rare to have a mesh upholstery, yet there are practically nothing but advantages.

This material allows air to circulate more easily, so your back will always be perfectly cool and you can say goodbye to perspiration or sticky chair backs.

Thanks to its flexibility, it can also adapt to the shape of your body, your morphology, better than any other material.

So it greatly enhances your comfort and the way you feel about it.

And a bonus? It’s particularly strong and durable.

Obviously, there are a few shortcomings, but they’ve mostly been avoided here.

For example, if you sit for too long, the mesh may feel uncomfortable, but that’s especially true if you have a mesh seat and…

You’re playing in shorts.

But since the seat is not mesh, I personally didn’t feel any discomfort, even over long periods of play.

I also tested it by playing for a few hours with my shirt off, to see if it would bother me (the contact of my back against the mesh), but it didn’t bother me at all.

On the other hand, I think that if it had been present on the seat, it could have been annoying when playing in shorts.

So the real flaw, at a pinch if you’re really picky, is the dirt that can accumulate in the little holes.

Otherwise, it’s almost sad that there aren’t more mesh chairs.

Next, the rest of the chair is made of fabric, which is also a more breathable material than faux leather.

The only drawback of fabric is that if you stain it, it can be difficult to get the stain out.

On the other hand, imitation leather can sometimes crack due to rubbing or poor quality.

With fabric, you have 0 chance of this happening, so it’s much more durable.

It’s true that fabric gives a less premium look than imitation, but that’s just an aesthetic thing, because when it comes down to it, fabric is much more durable than imitation.

So, in terms of upholstery, the K-Seat Oxygen is really very good.

Neck and lumbar cushions included

cushions kseat oxygen

Very happy to have got these two cushions, which are very important for the ergonomics of a chair (although the neck cushion is a bit more optional).

Why is that?

Well, the neck cushion sits…

In the back of your neck and is designed to keep your neck in a “neutral” position.

So it helps to keep it from tilting downwards, as most of us tend to do.

The ideal is to have a 0° inclination at the nape of your neck, which corresponds to the neutral position that can be obtained by wedging the cushion correctly.

However, if you’re sitting upright “by default”, the neck cushion is a little more optional, because in this case it’s not necessary – it’s just an extra comfort feature.

The lumbar cushion, on the other hand, is an absolute necessity and must be used.

Your spine forms an “S” shape.

You’ve probably already noticed it, and your lower back is slightly “sunken”.

You absolutely must reproduce this with a cushion, because if you don’t, you’re going to end up with a very sore back and a bad posture.

And if you don’t hold yourself well… You’re going to cause yourself serious back problems.

What’s more, a lumbar cushion also provides support, reducing the pressure on your muscles.

In short, it’s a primodial and not insignificant element, and should be positioned roughly at the level of your belt.

The finish is good and the stitching is well done.

k seat backside

I’ve taken a photo of the back, because in addition to not having made one yet, it also allows you to see that the back has also been well worked.

No excess fabric, no “yawning” fabric and everything is well attached.

Seams are clean, regular and tight.

Frankly, there’s not much to complain about. You could quibble that the plastic covers on either side of the chair don’t look very good, but…

This is the case on practically every chair on the market (a good 98%), and the ones that do have pretty covers, or none at all, are so expensive that you’ll love having covers!

So my overall opinion is very good, nothing to say.

Smooth-running castors on virtually any type of floor

castors glab oxygen

The castors are good, 60 mm, which is the model most often used.

They’re smooth and roll well on practically any floor, except that they have a little trouble on linoleum, but that’s the problem with practically all castors.

So that’s normal.

On tiles, on the other hand, they roll really well.

It doesn’t particularly collect dust (I’ve had some castors that were real dust magnets), and that’s fine too.

So overall, I’m happy.

Backrest tilts up to 180° (maximum)

tilted rest k seat oxygen

Well, this is as good as it gets.

The backrest reclines up to 180°, which corresponds to a fully reclined position.

With this, if you can’t find an angle that suits you, I don’t know what to tell you!

You can do it all, take naps, sleep, watch a stream lying down as if in bed, EVERYTHING.

With a 180° tilt, you’re spoilt for choice.

A few words about settings

settings kseat oxygen xl

The lever on the left is used to raise/lower the chair, simply by “pushing” it down.

This same lever can also be pulled or pushed in.

If you push it in, it will block the tilting mechanism and your chair will remain rigid.

If you pull it, the rocking mechanism will be unlocked and your chair can rock.

Next, the big knob you see in the middle is, as I explained, useful for adjusting the tension of the rocker according to your weight.

Climb in about 20 minutes, alone

assembly guide k seat oxygen

The K-Seat Oxygen was easy to assemble, as the instructions are clear and there are only 8 steps to follow.

The tools are all supplied with the chair, so you don’t have to worry about that.

The chair was very well packaged, and warranty-wise, if you scan the QR Code and register your chair on the site…

You’ll get a 5-year warranty instead of two!

So don’t hesitate to do it, a 5-year warranty is really great.

I also took the opportunity to write a short article on how to assemble a gaming chair, so if you’re buying one for yourself, you can follow my tutorial too!

I’ve put a lot of heart (and photos) into it.

Video review of The G-Lab K-seat Oxygen

Opinions of other Gamers

It’s still fairly new, so there aren’t many reviews, but they’re mainly positive.

The K-Seat Oxygen is recognized by other gamers as :

  • Comfortable (the mesh backrest would indeed be a real plus for comfort)
  • Easy to assemble
  • Suitable even for profiles over 1m90 and 100 kg

And on the less positive side, some people have dismissed the neck cushion as annoying (it’s optional anyway).

Other gaming chairs to consider

secretlab titan evo.jpg

I wanted to show you a gaming chair with an off-center rocker so you can compare.

So, yes, it’s great, because it’s got everything, i.e. 4D armrests, high-density cold foam, backrest tilt up to 165°, adjustable lumbar cushion integrated directly into the chair, magnetic and memory headrest…

However, if you’re on a budget, you won’t be able to afford it.

Read my review of the Secret Lab Titan Evo 2022.

razer enki x

A chair that’s quite similar in terms of settings, perhaps the Razer Enki X.

The armrests are also 2D, the backrest inclination is slightly lower because it goes up to 152° and not 180, nevertheless what you gain is that the materials used are more prestigious, for example the base is made of steel, and so on.

However, although the foam is also high-density, and the upholstery quality velvet, you lose the advantage of the mesh that the K-Seat Oxygen has.

Read the Razer Enki X Gaming Chair review.

dxracer formula f08 1.jpg

And finally, a chair with more or less similar characteristics (but once again you lose the mesh covering).

This is the DXRacer Formula F08, the armrests are 3D adjustable, the foam is high-density and although the backrest tilt is limited to 135°, the materials used are better, for example the base is aluminum.

However, it’s not made for taller people and costs more.

Read my top gaming chairs.

Where to buy K-Seat Oxygen?

I imagine that if you’ve read this far, it’s because the K-Seat Oxygen has won your heart, and you absolutely want your little mesh gaming chair!

It’s a good choice, because when it comes to comfort, mesh really changes everything, as well as providing the real ventilation that only mesh can offer.

So if you’re fed up with dying of heat on your chair as soon as you start to hit an hour or so of gaming, you’re bound to be pleased.

To get it, I’ve put a link in the button below which will transfer you to a new tab on a trusted site where you can buy it.
