Honesty & Impartiality

At first glance, finding a gaming chair may seem straightforward, but you’ll soon be lost by the sheer volume of products on offer.

What’s more, most manufacturers don’t seem to make much effort to make their offer intelligible.

So it’s hard to decide whether a gaming chair is good or not.

And when you’re looking for a good deal on a cheap gaming chair, it’s even worse.

Good bargains rub shoulders with very bad bargains.

That’s why this page has been created and will be updated daily.

I hope to save you money and help you make the right choice when it comes to buying a good, inexpensive gaming chair!

As I have no interest in recommending one chair over another, you can be sure of my impartiality.

What’s more, having made a lot of bad deals myself and lost a lot of money on bad gaming chairs, I don’t want you to make them any richer.

So let’s get on with the reviews! Here’s a quick summary of my reviews!

You’ll have access to each review in more detail later in this article.

The best cheap gaming chairs are :

The GTPLAYER: The best choice

cheap budget gaming chair

The GTPLAYER clearly deserves its place as the best low-cost gaming chair.

Despite its very reasonable price, it has a backrest that can be tilted up to 150Β°, which corresponds to an almost reclining position.

So as well as allowing you to select an inclination from several angles, and find the seating position that suits you best…

You can also take a break to watch a movie or a series, or to read – this gaming chair can almost be transformed into a bed!

Its armrests are height-adjustable, so you can set them perfectly to the height of your elbows and your desk.

But… Quite rare in this price range, they are also angle-adjustable.

Which is great for putting them at the angle of your arms (nobody plays with straight arms, whether at the console or the computer).

In fact, it’s even easier to find a position where you feel comfortable and where your shoulders don’t ache!

Nobody’s the same, and you’re unique, so the fact that you can adjust the height and angle of the chair will be a big plus when it comes to finding THE ideal position.

Another big plus is this gaming chair’s rocking mechanism!

Let me quickly explain why: on a fixed chair, without a rocking mechanism, you won’t be able to sit still for very long.

As the backrest is completely locked and doesn’t move with your movements, your lumbar vertebrae feel absolutely all the pressure, all the time.

As you can see, this is a big advantage if you want to spend several hours sitting in your chair (after all, that’s its main function…).

However, if you don’t like this mode, you can simply return to “static” mode using the lever under the seat.

As for the foam, the GTPLAYER goes the extra mile: when you sit on it, you’ll immediately feel that it’s well padded and will quickly return to its original shape.

It’s a guarantee of durability.

It won’t sag, so you can keep it for a long time and still sit comfortably even after months.

And why doesn’t it sag? Because it’s high-density foam!

To continue on the subject of durability, the chair’s skeleton is made of metal, which I think you already know is a very sturdy material.

If you’re used to buying gaming chairs that break easily, it’s probably not your fault, but that of the chair, and here you’ll be delighted with the GTPLAYER, which is solid.

The seat and backrest feature side bolsters for added comfort (i.e., support).

When it comes to back comfort, GTPlayer’s new model features a system they call “tri-support”.

Basically, it reproduces the natural curvature of your back, and the neutral curvature of your neck, directly in the back of the chair.

This means you can sit for longer without back pain.

The foot cross is made of plastic, which is normal.

Finally, the recommended body shape is a maximum weight of 135kg for a height ranging from 1m55 to 1m95.

A very good product that I recommend, as it’s the most ergonomic model. The other models are much less ergonomic.

The Songmics OBG62B: Top value for money

songmics obg62b.jpg

Looking for a low-cost gaming chair, but still want great value for money?

The OBG62B is the best gaming chair for the money!

The OBG6B2 has one major advantage over its rivals at the same price.

As well as having comfortable, padded armrests, so you don’t end the day with your elbows in a knot…

You can also fold them down and no longer be bothered by them if you don’t like having them!

I find this particularly useful!

When you’re playing the console, you don’t need it too much, and the same goes for reading, even when you don’t have much room at home and want to put it away, or simply for people who don’t like having them.

It’s the rare gaming chair that’s not too expensive to have this setting, so make the most of it!

But that’s not all: usually, many gaming chairs have straight backrests…

Which means you have to add cushions to match the natural curves of your back and neck.

The OBG62B has gone a step further, marking these curves directly on the backrest.

This means you can sit better without the need for lumbar and neck cushions!

However, for me, the biggest advantage of this inexpensive gaming chair is that it has a tilting mechanism that can swivel between 90 and 110Β°.

So instead of having a fixed seat, you’ll have a seat that follows the movements of your back and lets you rest whenever you want.

Underneath the seat there’s a kind of big round thing that lets you adjust the resistance according to your weight, so it doesn’t go too far back.

If you’re ever afraid you won’t like this tilting mechanism: don’t panic, you can deactivate it.

However, I wouldn’t recommend doing so, as the tilting mechanism is designed to take the strain off your back and allow you to play for several hours without feeling any pain compared to “normal” seats.

The polyurethane coating is well-made and not likely to peel off in the months that follow.

The castors don’t damage the floor and roll well.

Last but not least, something I’ve never found on any cheap gaming chair: the foam is high-density.

That’s super rare and means it won’t sag (basically, it’ll return to its normal shape after each use).

Finally, as regards body shape, you shouldn’t exceed 150kg and ideally you should be around 1m50-1m90.

If you ask me, it’s a safe bet.

Tectake 403465: The least expensive

tectake tyson 1.jpg

The Tectake 403465 (also known as the tectake tyson) is also a great low-cost gaming chair.

If you’re a particular fan of Tectake, here’s a top 5 list of the best tectake gaming chairs.

You’ll have access to a gaming chair that’s top-notch, because it’s well padded, so once you’re seated you won’t feel the structure of the seat under your buttocks.

What’s more, the foam is very good, as it lasts quite well over time and doesn’t sag, unlike other, much more expensive chairs.

With this padding comes the upholstery of which the chair is made.

Indeed, if it’s made of both imitation and fabric, it’s not just for the beauty of the mix, but above all for the advantages it implies!

It’s mostly made of imitation because it’s a solid material, but above all it’s easy to maintain and wash.

However, in summer it makes you sweat, as it’s not a breathable material, and unfortunately 90% of gaming chairs are made of imitation leather.

So on this model in particular, you’ve got a special mesh-type covering that breathes where your body rests most on the chair, so you won’t have any problems of this kind (goodbye sweating)!

So it’s clear that Tectake has thought about your well-being, in addition to the padding, by making a two-material chair.

Another good thing about the Tyson is that, unlike many low-cost gaming chairs, it features a tilting mechanism.

To put it simply, the backrest follows the movements of your back, for perfect, continuous back support.

This prevents the aches and pains that can occur after long hours of sitting.

However, the armrests are fixed and the backrest is not adjustable.

In itself, this isn’t a big deal (especially if you’re a console gamer, since you don’t need to adjust them in relation to your desk), but when you choose a cheap gaming chair, you have to expect a few concessions.

You could also criticize it for being sold without the lumbar and neck cushions, but when you’re looking for a cheap gaming chair, they’re not usually offered.

But here it’s special because there’s already a padded headrest, and at lumbar level you’ll notice that the backrest is already curved.

Finally, assembly is quick and easy, with some items already pre-assembled.

The castors are correct, and unlike some low-end seats, they don’t leave strange marks on the floor.

Suitable body size is around 1m55-1m90 and no more than 120kg.

Good points:

Negative points:

The Intimate WM Heart Racing: The most popular

intimate wm heart racing iwmh.jpg

As you’ll see from the number of reviews, the intimate wm heart racing is very popular among chairs with a good price tag.

The armrests are padded to protect your elbows during long hours of play.

The seat and headrest are also padded to give you a better seat and avoid you having to buy extra cushions like on other gaming chairs.

The only real drawback is that, unlike the cushions, it’s not adjustable.

Neither the backrest nor the armrests are adjustable; they’re fixed, which is to be expected on an inexpensive gaming chair like this.

However, it does have a tilting mechanism that takes the strain off the back during long hours of gaming.

The upholstery is made of well-crafted polyurethane leather.

It’s not the kind that peels off in the months that follow.

I couldn’t find any information on the density of the foam, except for the seat where it says it’s high density (which is a very good thing for durability and comfort).

Nevertheless, the foam is comfortable, supple and springs back into shape fairly easily, without sagging.

The backrest and seat are covered in fabric, so you won’t sweat in summer (it’s a breathable material, unlike polyurethane leather).

The castors are top-of-the-range, silent and can support loads of up to 1000kg.

The gas lift is SGS-certified.

Finally, I’d recommend this inexpensive gaming chair to people who don’t exceed 120kg for 1m50 to 1m85.

Good points:

Negative points:

The Tresko Chair: The trend of the moment, cool but not crazy

tresko gaming chair

Tresko is a brand that’s in the news a lot at the moment.

Does it deserve the praise it’s getting? Is it a good, inexpensive gaming chair?

Its armrests, though fixed (like the backrest), are padded to avoid the rubbing and elbow pain we all know so well when they’re too hard.

There is no lumbar or neck cushion.

Nevertheless, the Tresko makes up for it with an integrated headrest and a backrest that follows the natural curvature of the back (the little curve at the bottom).

For gamers and people who spend hours and hours on their computer, the chair’s integrated rocking mechanism will help you cope with longer hours of seated gaming.

You can either leave it as it is or adjust it for your weight via the knob under the seat, or lock it.

I’d recommend not locking it, as it’ll really help relieve the strain on your back and improve your gaming life!

The seat and backrest are comfortable, and you don’t feel the bars of the chair when you sit down, unlike some really cheap but super-expensive chairs.

I’d say the seat is pretty firm, but still quite supple.

As for the upholstery, it’s both imitation and fabric in the right places. As you know, imitation fabric is not breathable and therefore makes you sweat in summer.

That’s why there’s a fabric cover on the back and seat (it’s breathable, so you won’t sweat).

As for body shape, you shouldn’t exceed 120kg, and a height of 1m40-1m80 is just right.

How to choose the right gaming chair?

Choosing the right gaming office chair at the right price is a complicated business, and I’m not about to tell you otherwise.

It’s even more complicated when you’re looking for a good deal.

I often get the impression that manufacturers botch the product specification sheet, which makes it all the more difficult to choose a good cheap gaming chair!

For my part, I’ve got a big stock of chairs, because being a perfectionist I’m looking for the best of the best, so I hope I can help you choose the right one and save you money.

Setting a budget

I can congratulate you, because when you look for a cheap gaming chair, you already know roughly how much you’re willing to invest.

So I’m not going to go into that in detail, but it’s important to set a budget, so you know right away what you can afford.

And you’ll save a lot of time.

However, don’t forget that very often it’s not the price that dictates whether it’s a good deal or not.

There are very good bargains to be found, sometimes at very good prices.

On the other hand, sometimes you’ll find very bad deals on super-expensive chairs of very low quality.

However, on a small budget, you also need to have reasonable expectations. You can’t have a gaming chair in nappa leather…

It’s worth more than €500, and the noblechairs epic is far from being free, or armrests adjustable in 4 dimensions, nor all the qualities available on the best gaming chairs.

So you need to ask yourself whether these details will be useful to you or not (generally it’ll be no, it’s not necessarily essential, it’s just a little plus, but generally few people have chairs of this type).

Buying a gaming chair is already a big step forward, as most people I know play on living-room chairs.

With your gaming chair, you’re already one step further!

Whether it’s entry-level or top-of-the-range, it’ll make all the difference!

Choose a chair that's right for you

I think this will make sense to most of you, but be careful!

Not all chairs have the same dimensions, and if you pick up the wrong one you risk :

  • Not touching the floor
  • Not reaching your armrests
  • Being too comfortable
  • Have your knees touching the edge of the seat, so your knees hurt.

And so on…

For example, if you’re tall, the GTPLAYER will suit you much better than the Tresko, which has small dimensions!

As for your weight, be careful: some are suitable for people up to 150kg, while others only allow a maximum weight of 105kg.

Ideally, the maximum recommended weight is really a maximum, so try to stay as far away from it as possible.

So, as far as possible, pay attention to dimensions and recommended weight.

The right choice of coating

First of all, leather is very rare on gaming chairs.

Nappa leather (horsehide) is even rarer, and is extremely expensive, especially for noblechairs.

So avoid leather.

The advantage of leather is that it’s a natural, more attractive, lively material that will develop a patina over time.

Some find it a little more comfortable, but in summer, leather retains heat and can quickly become hot.

And it’s important to take good care of your leather, otherwise it may crack.

PU or polyurethane leather is found on virtually all gaming chairs.

It’s crust leather with an extra layer of polyurethane.

It’s very comfortable, easy to clean, and can last a very long time if the PU leather is well-made!

Faux is a fabric that imitates the look of leather, but it’s only fabric.

How to recognize good imitation and pu leather?

If it’s too smooth, too shiny or has a plastic effect, you’ll know at a glance that it’s crap.

This is often a sign that the simili or PU has been heavily surface-treated to hide the defects.

As for the fabric, the advantage that imitation and PU don’t have is that it’s highly breathable.

However, it is more fragile and can stain more easily.

So you’ll have to choose according to your preferences and lifestyle.

Armrest adjustment is very important

Gaming chairs generally feature either fixed armrests that can’t be moved…

And this is generally the case for a cheap gaming chair…

Or armrests that can be adjusted in 1 dimension (height), 2 dimensions (1D + orientation), 3D (2D + right to left) or 4D (3D + front to back).

It’s up to you to decide, depending on your preferences and whether or not you need it.

Some people like to have none at all.

But basically, on the cheap you’ll get non-adjustable armrests, or even 2D if you add a little money.

The tilting mechanism is essential (as is the backrest tilt).

The most important adjustment, and one that is fortunately available on most gaming chairs, is the tilt mechanism.

What’s a tilt mechanism?

It’s what keeps your backrest from being rigid all the time, because if it were rigid all the time, your whole back would have to take the pressure of your sitting position, and very soon you’d be experiencing back pain.

Maybe you already have.

The tilting mechanism means that the backrest will follow your movements.

If you bend over a little, it will also bend over, and if you move backwards, it will follow your movement.

This is very important if you want to choose your future chair properly, especially if you spend hours and hours sitting.

Your back will thank you for it.

So, of course, don’t be like all those who block their backrests to work. Let the tilting mechanism do its job and don’t block it!

As for the orientation of the backrest, it all depends on your preferences: some seats go as far as 180Β°…

You end up lying completely flat.

It’s often not very comfortable, it’s not very stable, and what’s more, they sell it to you at crazy prices.

A small reclining angle can be useful for certain activities, such as watching a film or reading a book, while taking the strain off your back by reclining your chair.

But for the rest, too much tilt is really superfluous and will force you to buy a rather expensive gaming chair.

Choose a dense foam and a chair with a good finish.

It’s quite complicated to know if the chair is upholstered or the density of the foam, because some brands don’t give this information.

When this is the case, you’ll need to pay particular attention to keywords such as :

  • High density
  • High resilience

These words are good clues as to whether you’re buying something good or rubbish.

But why do you want high density?

It’s a designation you can only get if you have a certain level of density.

It’s achieved when it reaches around 28kg/m3.

Having a gaming chair with high-density foam means you can be sure it won’t sag with use.

To put it more visually, your chair won’t end up like Homer Simpson’s sofa.

As for the finish, you need to be careful with the seams.

Generally speaking, if the stitching is the same color as the chair (black on black, red on red), this is often, but not always, a sign that the seams are good.

If you want to go into more detail, look directly at the finish of the seams: are they tight? Solid? Thick? Too tight or too loose?

Choosing the right design for your gaming chair

In terms of design, there are basically two types of gaming seats.

Bucket seats, which come mainly from the seats found in sports cars.

Their purpose was to support the person, secure the driver when driving at very high speeds, and promote particular comfort.

You’ll recognize them by the presence of side cheeks on the seat.

There are also “standard” seats – there’s nothing special to say about them except that, unlike a bucket chair, you won’t be held in place.

So it’s a matter of preference and will depend on the product, just like the colors.

I haven’t even touched on colors, although some seats are very pretty with a nice mix of colors (black + blue), because this point is purely subjective.

If it’s a gift and you don’t want to make a mistake, choose a color that contains black!

The office chair, an alternative to the gaming chair?

Well, let’s put it this way: you’re a gamer, but you still want a chair that’s “simple” and “sober” in terms of design and color.

So you’re bound to wonder whether an office chair is worth more than a gaming chair.

And rightly so!

Nevertheless, you know that finding a gaming chair is a complex business, especially when you’re looking to buy one on the cheap (usually for just under €100-200).

Well, there are even more office chairs out there, and making the right choice is even more complicated.

Especially since, if you’re here, it’s because you want a cheap chair.

Well, guess what?

There are lots of new and used ergo office chairs for under €100 or €200, so it’s perfect because it’s not too expensive.

And how do you make the right choice?

It’s easy, just scroll up a bit and take a look at our guide to choosing the right gaming chair – it’s all the same for office chairs!

And now that you have read all that, you’re wondering… Should I buy one?

I would say… No.

It’s not worth the budget, the cheap desk chairs are lacking a lot of functionalities in comparison to the gaming chairs.

Gaming chairs FAQ

I’ve put together a list of the most frequently asked questions about gamer chairs.

Why a gaming chair and not just the kind you find in supermarkets?

Quite simply because most of the time, these chairs are just as expensive, if not more so, and of lower quality.

However, it’s true that for those on a budget, some of the ergonomic chairs used by lawyers, for example, cost in excess of €1,000 and are top-of-the-range in terms of quality, with a host of adjustments, good materials and fabrics.

But here, unless you find them second-hand or from a good retailer, the prices are outrageous.

That’s why buying a gaming chair is such a good idea.

They’ve been designed specifically for gamers, or anyone who spends a minimum amount of time behind their computer.

What’s more, the fact that this type of chair is so well known means that competition is fierce, and prices are becoming more and more affordable, with more and more quality chairs on the market.

As a result, you can find good gaming office chairs at low prices.

Gaming seats are made of bucket seats (which make them look like sports cars) and are very comfortable.

Honestly, do you feel more comfortable sitting behind the wheel of your car, or at the office?

Personally, I love bucket seats, and I think they’re life-changing in terms of comfort.

What’s more, you can easily last a long time on a gaming chair, as their dimensions are often more permissive and the foams of better quality than on other chairs.

Better twice than once, yes.

If you spend a minimum amount of time sitting, you MUST sit well and take care of your back, neck and body alignment.

With a gaming chair, you’ll be able to adopt a more ergonomic, body-friendly posture over the long term.

So the real question is, is it worth investing in your health?

Where can I buy number 1?

The best and most adjustable by far is the GTPLAYER! Nevertheless, the GTPLAYER is still rather expensive.

A really good chair that will last a long time, and which you’ll be able to enjoy with all its adjustments…

Or a slightly cheaper chair with far fewer settings?

The GTPLAYER is clearly the best low-cost gaming chair.

Unlike the others, it features a backrest that reclines up to 150Β°, height-adjustable armrests, free neck and lumbar cushions, a metal chair skeleton, side cheeks and durable foam.
